About

I'm Brook Xiao — a designer and classically trained singer shaping how people interact with intelligent systems.

At Carnegie Mellon University, I study HCI, UX, and machine learning, integrating analytical methods with expressive design practice. My projects span intelligent performance systems like BelCanto Hub to adaptive interaction tools that connect data, emotion, and user experience.

As a performer, I've trained across the SATB spectrum and appeared in roles ranging from countertenor to tenor and baritone. Highlights include Le Nozze di Figaro at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and Alcina with CMU Opera.

Across both voice and interface, I aim to create systems that balance precision, empathy, and human expression — experiences that feel intuitive and alive, even when powered by machine intelligence.
